Katie Dennis
Biography
Call her a perfectionist or Type A but one thing is certain, Katie strives for efficiency and organizing, oftentimes, overwhelming amounts of information into bite size milestones for her team and clients. With an alarmingly analytical mind, she is always scanning for ways to improve and make everyone’s lives easier. While she also accepts that Project Management, as well as life, can be chaotic and you must roll with the punches.
Katie has gotten to this point in her career by accumulating an array of skills and experiences across many industries. Pre-Covid, she worked as the Corporate Event Planner at Hotel Bennett, a 5 Star hotel in Charleston, SC. There she coordinated and managed events upwards of 600 guests for conferences, galas, holiday parties, and much more. After 4 years in event planning, she had to switch gears due to the industry shutdown. With uncertainty ahead, she assessed her skillset and determined that Project Management aligned best with her experience as well as her passion to take the reins and manage projects.
Aside from juggling several projects at once and organizing, then reorganizing all of those details, Katie also finds time to enjoy life without so many defined deliverables. Having tried out for American Idol twice, she finds enjoyment on a smaller stage these days and can be found at a karaoke bar across the greater Austin area. Having recently embarked on a new journey of stand up comedy, she can’t seem to put the mic down. When she’s not shining in the spotlight, she’s out running or testing out new fitness classes. Whether she’s belting out Miranda Lambert or kickboxing to stay in shape, she’s always up for a challenge and eager to do it with friends in tow.
By finding ways to improve her personal life, mentally and physically, she is able to consider better ways of improving processes in the office as well. Knowing that our personal and professional lives are connected has helped her to come up with positive and productive ways to encourage her team, foster relationships with her clients and continue to explore ways to make the work place more efficient.
